Kundalini Yoga classes
A typical Kundalini Yoga class combines breath-work, movement, meditation, stretching, relaxation, mantra and sound. This practise attunes the body with the mind and releases the natural flow of energy from within. This vital energy current increases our sensitivity, self-awareness, creativity, intuition and joy.
Kundalini Yoga has a range of benefits for participants. It strengthens and tones the body, increases flexibility, reduces stress and anxiety and promotes a sense of wellbeing.
The practice of Kundalini Yoga focuses on balancing the mind, body and spirit.
Kundalini Yoga is a Raj (Royal) Yoga that was practiced secretly for hundreds, possibly thousands of years by the elite classes in India. The current Master of Kundalini Yoga, Yogi Bhajan, was the first to begin teaching this form of yoga openly, to anyone who wanted to learn. He believed all people should have access to this beautiful technology. In 1969 he bought it to the West from India.
Kundalini Yoga is also known as the yoga of awareness, which includes being aware of your body and what it can do. If you cannot do the full posture, that is ok, even leaning in the right direction will have an effect.
Several Kundalini Yoga teachers offer classes at Springwood Studio. Please see our timetable of yoga classes for the contact details of our yoga instructors.
